Greetings from your new director of New Taste Marketplace!
NEW TASTE RELAUNCH JUNE 23rd
I’ve been waiting hungrily for the relaunch of New Taste Marketplace– the friendliest, coolest and most interesting of the Bay Area’s artisan food venues, held at St. Gregory’s in Potrero Hill to benefit The Food Pantry, which gives away free groceries to 500 families every week. I started out at NTM as a vendor myself (GrilledCheezGuy) and just loved the other vendors and the community vibe; it was there that I began to create Behind the Cart, my special food-cart dinners.
Now I’m running New Taste Market, and beginning June 23rd we’ll be open the third Saturday of every month. In the last few months, I’ve been traveling far and wide in search of the newest food sensations. I’ve found all kinds of creative people popping up with their wares in ForageSF, FoodSocial, the Oakland Art Murmur and Eat Up, and in many other venues still too secret to mention. And I’ve found some cooks who are looking to create very special one-time events. I’m looking forward to working with them as we offer special events alongside each market, to bring great new local food to you in fun and creative ways.
On June 23, New Taste Marketplace will open to the public with an array of new and favorite vendors–cooks, bakers, sausage and chocolate-makers– as well as food trucks selling tasty lunch specialties, from 12 noon-5PM.
Remember, June 23 is Pride Weekend, so you’ll need to keep your strength up! Come to the market any time between 12-5 in the afternoon for hot, spicy and sweet treats …all queer couples get a special blessing, and everyone gets to welcome New Taste back. Check here for all vendor info for both the New Taste Market and Behind the Cart on June 23rd.
I can not thank you enough for continuing to support this event and I hope to bring you new and exciting food from the bay area and brie-yond!
See you soon,
Michael Davidson
